E’Montie Dears, better known as Montie is American rapper, singer songwriter. He is known for his extreme versatility in rapping and singing. He credits a lot of his singing ability to growing up and singing in church. He was raised down south in Florence, SC , where there isn’t very much to do. It was easy for the youth to get in trouble because of lack of opportunity and boredom. His mother and grandmother saw different and instilled in him early on that he would be different. So much so that former elementary school teachers would praise in mother for raising a son to be “one of the ones that made it out”. But Montie was nothing close to perfect, he would get into fights early on in school and on the bus for being the smallest . This experience he says would leave him to have a chip on his shoulder with everything he did. 
Montie played football in school and was skilled enough to attend and play football in college. He attended Methodist University in Fayetteville NC and graduated with a Exercise Science degree. He was the starting running back from 2015 - 2017. After college is when he decided to pick up the pen and pad and began to write music. 
His music gives numerous feelings that make it impossible to put him in a box. His musical influences are Andre 3000, J Cole, Trey Songz, Drake, Young Thug , Future, Jidenna and many more. 
His many sounds allows you to never have to turn him off. His music shows that it’s ok to be yourself!
