Declan Welsh and the Decadent West (UK)

Declan Welsh & The Decadent West will perform at Café V lese in Prague on October 15, starting at 7:30 PM.

Declan Welsh & The Decadent West (DWDW) is a band from Glasgow known for its intelligent, provocative lyrics, catchy hooks, and electrifying live performances. Welsh and his bandmates—Duncan McBride (guitar), Ben Corlett (bass), and Jamie Holmes (drums)—have released four EPs and two critically acclaimed albums. They have worked with Grammy- and Gold Award-winning producers, received a nomination for the Scottish Album of the Year Award, sold out tours across the UK and Europe (including Glasgow’s Barrowland Ballroom, Amsterdam’s Paradiso, and London’s Omeara), and performed on the main stage of TRNSMT Festival, where Welsh used his platform to call for an end to the treatment of the Palestinian people.

Throughout 2024, Welsh campaigned tirelessly in support of a country and people he first encountered during a cultural exchange visit in 2016. His experiences there reinforced his belief in the power of art as a tool for social change. He released the single Walk a Mile in Gaza and organized a charity concert in 2024 which, in collaboration with Unite Hospitality, raised more than $15,000 to help send surgeons to Palestine.

Welsh also took part in the inaugural Global Activism Conference in South Africa, where he collaborated with artists from around the world to develop ideas on how art can drive social, environmental, and political change.
