The word legend is often used but rarely truly deserved. Gilles Peterson however, thoroughly merits such a title. Starting on pirate radio as a teenager in London, Peterson went on to pioneer a genre mash-up known as Acid Jazz, forging a sound and a style that are still utterly unique decades later, a fact proved every year in the town of Sete at his Worldwide Festival. His taste and judgement, as represented on previous label Talkin' Loud and more recently Brownwood Recordings, are as legendary as they are eclectic, with his DJ sets and radio shows covering everything from Soul to Jazz and Funk, through to sounds from across the South American continent, the Middle East, Africa and Asia. In this essential and unmissable Tracklist of my Life session, Peterson's song choice will range far and wide, taking in continents and cultures around the globe, all tied together by his love of a fine groove and tunes that pluck at the heartstrings. In this session Gilles will take you through his collection of vinyl records that shapes his life and career.
